Wish card (CPS 173)

29 Jun

After creating a card for the Card Positioning System using the negative space of several die cuts (you can see it here), I couldn’t resist using the die cuts to make a card using the same sketch. It is so fun. Here is the new card:

This came together quickly since I already had the die cuts (stamped, cut and embossed). I chose coordinating papers and put it together with dimensional adhesive and letter stickers. Here are the die cuts that I cut out the other day.

Here is a final, close-up look.

a gift for you card (CPS 173)

It’s nice to be home in the cool air of Colorado after experiencing the hot, hot days of Tucson, Arizona. Ahhhhh.

Today I worked on a card which was inspired by Card Positioning System blog challenge (CPS 173). Check out the sketch here. As always, the possibilities are endless. Here is my take on it.

I am really enjoying using Mint Motif Very Square Stamps by Kimberly Crawford. So for this project, I stamped four designs, one of them twice, to get five squares. Then I die cut five different shapes as seen here:

As often happens, while I’m designing, things change along the way. Instead of using the die cuts, which I had originally planned, I used the strip, popped up from the card. I chose a contrasting green paper to go with the red (for a “Complimentary” color scheme). I finished it quickly with the addition of a sticker sentiment and ribbon.

I was thinking birthday but now I realize it looks a bit like Christmas. Guess I will save it for December.

Sketch Challenge at PPRS

I’ve heard it said that the third time is the charm, and I sure hope it is true because this sketch over at Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps blog, took me three tries to get something that I am proud to post. (Some weeks are just like that, you know.)

So, first, go over to the Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps blog to see the sketch. Then grab some time in your craft space and create something lovely. Here is what I managed to create by try #3.

I love how the little birds have the door open and are welcoming…so it occurred to me to make this a guest book. I can imagine lots of other sentiments: summer love, spring awakening, bliss, friends, the list goes on. There are so many reasons to love this stamp. Here is a close up:

To add some special touches to this, I used Copic Markers to color parts of the image and airbrushed around it to give the impression of the sky.

I added a few die cuts, some dimensional adhesive, a few stickers and a fabric flower that I colored to match. So let’s see what you got!!

Here’s a close up of the title! It’s subtle but important and yes, I used a pencil to write “Welcome!”

Finally, Finally, Finally…I’ve had a minute to work on a sketch challenge. I feel like I’ve been away from my craft table for weeks. But I’ve been enjoying summer, working at my new job with ShopHopProductions.com and helping over at Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps.

Today I had a graduation party for an extended family member. We’re so proud of him. I knew the sketch from Card Positioning System would be perfect.

Today, I was off to take a pic of it and my camera was unhappy with the memory card. So I scanned it… not bad, I guess…then we left for the party.
