A Dream Come True (CPS 149)

11 Jan

Some days, a card or layout just comes together like butter…Today? Not so much, sigh. I had the sketch (# 149) from Card Positioning System. I had the main image of a bird die cut. I chose my stamp from JustRite Stampers and the rest took hours. Sigh.

But I think it was worth the strain and toil…

Let me give you some instant replays of what I did to create this. First, the supplies!

Important Stuff: Wizard™, S4-222 Create A Flake One, I2-1009 Flourish Impressabilities, S4-160 Bird (retired), S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles LG (Spellbinders™); Natural Cardstock (WorldWin); Lavender patterned paper (My Mind’s Eye); Decorative 2″ Borders stamps, Loving Thoughts stamps, 2″ round stamper (JustRite Stampers); Memento Paris Dusk dye ink (Tsukineko); Wood Violet embossing powder (Sparkle N’ Sprinkle); Glue Rings (GlueArts); Mini Glue Dots (Glue Dots); Silver Metallic Rub-ons (Craf-T)

Other Stuff: Cream paper; Lavender organza ribbon, Clear gem

After cutting the Spellbinders™ S4-160 Bird (retired), I embossed it with the I2-1009 Flourish Impressabilities.

Next, came the stamping…I stamped the JustRite Stampers sentiment “You are a Dream Come True” from the Loving Thoughts set, and combined it with a “feathery” circle border from the Decorative 2″ Wide Borders set. Then, I set the S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circle LG on top of the image and secured it with low tac tape. The amazing thing about this stamp is that the border design fits perfectly into the scallops. Brilliant JustRite!

Next, I created a little crown for the bird. This was some kind of fun! I cut/embossed S4-222 Create A Flake One and then trimmed it so four spokes remained.

I actually used glue on the surface and sprinkled Wood Violet embossing powder on it. A little heat and several layers later, I had a thick coat on the crown. I used a second flourish border from the JustRite Decorative Borders Set. I heated one crown spoke at a time and then impressed a bit of the border into it. It gave it a really great texture.

To enhance the texture even more, I wiped silver metallic rub-ons on the top and knocked it down a bit with a rag. I put it all together with a wrapped ribbon and Copic color on the bird’s beak and sentiment stamp. I guess it was a great day after all…

As always, thanks for stopping by…Happy Creating, Eli

    Eli,
I love how the stamp lined up with the scallops of the die template. Great card for all of the hard work you put in to it.
