Be Joyful layered card

9 Apr

If you have been with me for any length of time (thanks, by the way) you may know that I’ve been designing for Cut Card Stock for several years and before that, Spellbinders Paper Arts. I’ve designed a lot of cards over the years but the one I just created is a new favorite for me.Image

I’m not sure what it is but I think the colors, the balance, the sentiment, the die-cuts just came together beautifully. Thankfully some days are just like that.

Happy Easter to all…and have a creative day. Eli

Copics + Ikea = Nifty Storage

24 Feb

I love my Copics. I love Ikea (although I’ve only been once since I just moved near one).

I needed some storage for the said “Copics” and Ikea was just the place. I love to think outside the box when coming up with custom storage ideas. Some of you may remember how I build my own stamping shelf (check it out here).

While meandering around Ikea, I found some white metal bins for plants…and I just knew they would be a good size for my markers.

These little darlings are only $2.99 each. I love the lacy edge on top and I thought it just might work for hanging on a rod. So I looked for something to make that possible. Of course, that item was upstairs at the other side of the Ikea universe…lol. Check it out.

Hang bar (Large is $2.99)

S Hooks ($.99)

My craft room in our new house is configured differently (of course) than my last. In the new one, I usually work in the corner with a window on the left. Just below the sill, I screwed two rods into the wood frame. Attached the “S” hooks to the pots and hung them on the rod.

It’s awesome sitting next to this and seeing all of my markers, ready to color at any time. And the whole thing only cost about $25 bucks…So worth it.

Have an excellent and creative weekend.

Cheers, Eli

This card will welcome baby Catherine as soon as I can get it in the mail…

I wanted to create something with a modern touch, using the browns, greens and lavender. I think I succeeded.

Sunny Friend

22 Mar

Just a quick post today which was inspired by Card Positioning System. At first I was perplexed by the sketch but after I thought of using circles instead of squares, the sun and sunshine came to mind. Here is the sketch:

Imagine it sideways, like this:

Hope your spring has started off in a sunny way! See you soon.

Cross card

12 Mar

I just got a new stamp by Inkadinkado and needed to give it a run. I stamped it a few times and used atyou Spica glitter pens to color the images. The inspiration to complete the card came from The Shabby Tea Room for this week.

It reminded me of St. Patrick’s Day, so I used the new cross stamp to create this card.

From the next image, you can see the sparkles a bit better, both from the glitter pens and from the Glossy Accents I used to cover the cross.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by…

Paper Opal metallic paper (Cutcardstock.com)

Reading is Sweet

More inspiration from the Shabby Tea Room (#48)…It’s the most adorable photo inspiration and an a “use hearts” rule. Check this out:

I created a bookmark for my darling daughter who loves to read. I think it is a great Valentine’s Day gift to go along with a piece of chocolate…or maybe a pile of chocolate!

Check out the closer version that shows off the “sugar-topped” chocolates.

Then, just one more look…at the top of the book mark.

Whether your day is full of romantic notions or just a good book to read…have a Happy Valentine’s Day. Come back and visit soon!

Beauty butterfly card

6 Feb

Here is another installment in my application for The Shabby Tea Room Design Team. Check out the call here. And you can see my first project, an altered CD case, here. Both of the projects were inspired by a beautiful pink/black polka dot tea set.

This card was a much more artistic interpretation while the first project was more literal for me. Here is today’s installation!

When I create a “collage” look, I like to keep layering elements, moving them around, adding things, letting others go…until I’m happy with it and then I glue it all down. I know that may sound like “Duh!” but most of the time, when I’m creating, I start gluing things down so they don’t slide around and then get locked into a simpler design. So it takes some restraint on my part to create this kind of design. It is a good exercise for me.

Here’s one more look, a close-up, that shows some of the shimmer from the dusting of the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Ooh, la, la!!!
